New Bookstore Manager

I’m Laura DeLaney, the new bookstore manager at the Reading Room CLE.  I want to talk with you about the books you have read and enjoyed, and introduce you to new friends.  I have worked in books for over twenty years, and truly love all aspects of reading.  There will be some changes around the shop as I get to know you and the store, so I hope you come in and see how things develop. 

This week I saw Primary Trust with Cleveland Playhouse, and the themes of friendship and loneliness have followed me. I started thinking about books that connect with the same ideas that I have particularly loved that are on our shelves.

  I found The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister on our shelves.   Like Primary Trust, this book explores loneliness and connection, but in this instance, the characters have a guide to finding their way.  Lillian teaches cooking once a month at her restaurant, and connects people and food in such a way that their lives are different.  It’s a gentle book, and it invites you in.  It is what I hope you find inside the Reading Room.
