The Reading Room CLE is looking for interns with a wide variety of skills. All of our internships are remote. We follow NACE's guidelines and offer supervision for college credit, but all internships are unpaid.
We accept internship applications on a rolling basis.

Marketing
Marketing intern responsibilities include:

- Manage social media accounts via Crowdfire (content is provided by RRC)
- Use Adobe Spark to create multi-channel content
- Proofread documents and assist with prep
- Proofread documents before they go live on the website
- Use CMS (WordPress) to manage website deployments
- Research press opportunities, including native advertising opportunities
- Generate QR codes for bookstore
- Identify Rafflecopter giveaway occasions and materials

Media
Media intern responsibilities include:

- Manage appointment setting for podcast subjects
- Collect photos, documentation and work samples from subjects
- Transcribe podcasts after sound team edits them
- Distribute podcasts and coordinate the creation of marketing materials with marketing staff
- Collate press list and track press releases
- Research native advertising opportunities and track submissions to media outlets

Research Assistant
Research Assistant responsibilities include:

- Ongoing project in fan-lore and fan history; the Parma collection of vintage fan art is awaiting documentation and eventual re-homing
- Research potential recipients of the Parma collection, evaluate their ability to house and maintain it
- Research auction/sale possibilities for the Parma collection
- Research rare and collectible books and assess their value
- Identify prospects for podcast interviews and for creative partnerships

Graphic Design
Graphic Design intern responsibilities include:

- Design a logo for branded merchandise
- Design art for the website
- In collaboration with management, choose color palette, typography, and create stylebook
- Create art for specific events and publications (Jolabokaflod gala; Trick-or-Treat; community art classes)
- Assist with community classes, teaching non-artists technique and giving encouragement
- Design art for Little Free Libraries

Event Planning/Merchandising
Event Planning/Merchandising intern responsibilities include:

- Curate targeted book selections for cultural events and vendor pop-ups
- Attend events; set up table, sell books, distribute literature and answer questions
- Transport equipment to event location and return it to The Reading Room CLE
- Assess events for feasibility, profitability, and repeatability
- Represent The Reading Room CLE to the public

Fundraising
Fundraising intern responsibilities include:

- Research grant possibilities and set up fundraising calendar
- Create donation solicitations for in-kind donations and cash
- Log donations into database
- Write and send acknowledgement letters to donors
- Research community partnership opportunities
- Identify book donation prospects and coordinate with volunteers to set up collections
- Create Sparked projects

Product Design
Product Design intern responsibilities include:

- Draft design for bookshelf based on existing specifications
- Create prototype at local makerspace using CNC machine or laser cutter
- After successful prototype is created, manufacture test shelves for product testing
- Create bookshelf evaluation forms and communicate with product testers
- Create production budget and source materials
